MEET JAWN HA
born and raised in socal. used to play the drums in elementary which is most likely why i love and appreciate music the way i do. my brother chris introduced me to the dancing scene in my freshman year, but i quickly declined the offer to join due to image issues that i quickly got over when i saw all the girls at his competitions. made alhambra's all male dance team my sophomore year but never really got into choreographing until senior year. straight out of high school fellow team mate alumni jon aledia offered the opportunity to try out for GRV and when i saw them perform at maxt out 2007 i was sold. currently teaching weekly classes at StylZ dance studio in west covina. i would like to thank GRV and BoogieZone for giving me the opportunity to share my passion with everyone who just wants to get out there and boogie. but aside from dance im currently working on getting my LVN license so i may get paid for being a super hero. yakno, save lives. full out.

BZ Community Class- April Rodriguez (interwiew/solo) by apesxessence
Category: Misc April Joy Rodriguez began dancing Hula at age 7 in the city of Carson, California. It wasn't until the age of 18 though, that April took her first Hip Hop class. Her early training began with SuperDave Royster and Jayson Wright. With their mentorship, she began to develop a deep love for soul, groove, and dance.
In her first year of college, April was introduced to the Boogiezone community through competing with Kaba Modern. Since then, she's danced with various choreographers for different projects. Choreographers include: Jay Chris Moore, Jason Bueno, Jed Florano, and Jun Quemado. Although living miles away from San Diego, California, she also trained with SuperGalactic Beat Manipulators under the directorship of KJ Gonzales, Ben Chung, Lando Wilkins, and Kevin Brewer.
At 22 years old, she now dances for Gigi Torres, alongside other powerhouses, in an all-female group called "Essence Dance Company," where they focus on showcasing their strength as women and hope to become positive symbols to others in that way. Within this summer, April taught workshops with Essence ladies Audrey Benson, Aimee Lucas, Candace Brown, and also with Funkanometry SF ladies Mariel Martin, and Ellen Kim in different cities such as San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Tempe, Arizona.
"Apes" feels very blessed to be surrounded by passionate teachers, as she believes she's in the beginning stages of her dancing career. There is still much to learn. She would like to thank everyone she's worked with because she gains a different lesson from each person and their drive inspires her day by day. "THANK YOU, YOUTUBE!!!!!" She would like to also thank her family and friends for their undying support, and God for His unconditional love. April Joy has so many role models and lives off of the positive vibes of others. She hopes that, in her work and in her life, she will eventually become even a little bit of an inspiration to others and a contribution to the dance community.

BZ Community Class - Steve and Jeff - Select by projectd
Category: Dance Videos MEET STEVE ARMENDI
Steven Armendi was born in Englewood, New Jersey. Inspired by his brother Bernie Armendi at a young age, he started learning choreography in cotillions and parties. He has grown to embrace the art of dance since the age of 14.
His credits include back up dancing for Filipino artists such as Regina Velasquez and Pops Fernandez. He has trained with Future Shock New York under the guidance of Jennifer Yee and Jansen Mao as well as Ellie Burke and Dennis Caindec of CSLA. Some of his biggest influences, however, are thanks to his close friends Richard Garing, Myron Merced, and Jeff Laconico.
Steven is currently co-directing his company -- "Project D" -- based out Bergenfield, New Jersey. His main inspiration comes from those who are unique and who tend to think outside of the normal box. He currently teaches at Step By Step Dance Sport and is determined to those who want to learn something fresh and something new.
MEET JEFF LACONICO
Jeff Laconico was born in Quezon City, Philippines on July 24, 1988. He migrated to California at the age of 8, but was first introduced to the dance scene when he moved to New Jersey at the age of 16. Since then he's come to enjoy performing, but more importantly he has found major appreciation for the art of choreography.
Credits can go back to multiple college hip hop dance competitions with several different dance troupes. His biggest competition occurred when he got the chance to perform for the first ever Prelude East Coast Dance Competition in NJ. Other credits include back up dancing for Filipino artists such as Regina Velasquez and Pops Fernandez. Training credits go to his mentors from Culture Shock New York as a Future Shock NY Member while under the teaching of Culture Shock NY's Jennifer Yee and Jansen Mao as well as Ellie Burke and Dennis Caindec of Culture Shock Los Angeles.
Jeff is now a co-director for the Project D Dance Company -- created in Bergenfield, New Jersey by Bernie Armendi. He is inspired by dancers who use the art of musicality in their choreography as well as anything that is unique and innovative. He loves his company and has grown to call Project D his family. He currently teaches Project D Dance Company Classes at Step By Step Dance Sport and invites anyone who has the desire to grow as a dancer. He lives everyday by his main motto of "E.L.E." --- EVERYBODY LOVES EVERYBODY!
